Benefit set for Eagles Nest firefighter

A benefit for Eagles Nest firefighter Rick Simmons has been set for Saturday, August 9, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Eagles Nest Town Hall.  The fundraiser will include burgers, brats and hot dogs.  Organizers say the event will also include a silent auction and music by Pat Surface and The Boundary Water Boys.  The cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5-12.  Simmons is a 13 year member of the Eagles Nest fire Department and was fire chief for eight years.  He was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis C and is currently undergoing treatment.  Because of his medical condition, he is not able to work as a self-employed mechanic.  Proceeds from the benefit will be used to help in paying his day to day bills.  Donations may be sent to the Rick Simmons Benefit, State Bank of Tower, Box 499, Tower, MN 55790.
