A major expansion to the Silver Bay fire station will give some needed room to two area public safety organizations. The $505,000 addition will house the Lake County Rescue Squad and its equipment as well as the Silver Bay ambulance crew and its two ambulances. Work on the expansion project has been going on for some time with funding being provided by Lake County. The Silver Bay Fire Department, with a membership of 20, operates two pumpers, a 2,500 gallon tanker, a grass fire/rapid response rig, and a Haz Mat trailer.
