July 30 - Virginia firefighters battled a garage fire in the city's northside area. The fire department was dispatched around 8:15 p.m. to 812 15^th Street North Firefighters found the garage engulfed in flames, plus they had to contend with falling power lines. Crews were able to protect nearby exposures and knock down the blaze. A nearby garage was damaged and a car parked near the structure was also heavily damaged. The Virginia Fire Department estimated damages around $25,000 with the garage put at a total loss. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
